Matched ultraslow propagation of highly efficient four-wave mixing in a closely cycled double-ladder system

چکیده
We present a fully time dependent, adiabatic solution, and steady-state analysis for the ultraslow propagation of the nondegenerate four-wave mixing NDFWM signal and the weak probe beam in a closely-cycled double-ladder system. Under appropriate especially power balance conditions, the two-mode probe and phase-matched NDFWM pulses, after a characteristic propagation length, evolve into a pair of amplitude and group velocity matched pulses. Double transparency for the probe and NDFWM beams can be achieved owing to an efficient oneand three-photon destructive interference involving the NDFWM beam and its back reaction to the probe beam. The forward and backward configurations are investigated in this double-ladder system, and their efficiencies are calculated and compared.

Ultraslow propagation of matched pulses by four-wave mixing in an atomic vapor.
We have observed the ultraslow propagation of matched pulses in nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a hot atomic vapor. Probe pulses as short as 70 ns can be delayed by a tunable time of up to 40 ns with little broadening or distortion. During the propagation, a probe pulse is amplified and generates a conjugate pulse which is faster and separates from the probe pulse before getting locked to it ...
متن کاملFormation and propagation of coupled ultraslow optical soliton pairs in a cold three-state double- system.
We investigate the simultaneous formation and propagation of coupled ultraslow optical soliton pairs in a cold, lifetime-broadened three-state double-Lambda atomic system. Starting from the equations of motion of atomic response and two-mode probe-control electromagnetic fields, we derive coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations that govern the nonlinear evolution of the envelopes of the probe f...
متن کاملVariational Principle and Plane Wave Propagation in Thermoelastic Medium with Double Porosity Under Lord-Shulman Theory
The present study is concerned with the variational principle and plane wave propagation in double porous thermoelastic infinite medium. Lord-Shulman theory [2] of thermoelasticity with one relaxation time has been used to investigate the problem. It is found that for two dimensional model, there exists four coupled longitudinal waves namely longitudinal wave (P), longitudinal thermal wave (T),...
متن کاملSuppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System
Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...
متن کاملHighly efficient four-wave mixing via intersubband transitions in InGaAs/AlAs coupled double quantum well structures
We perform a time-dependent analysis of continuous wave (cw) four-wave mixing (FWM) in InGaAs/AlAs coupled double quantum well (CDQW) structures via intersubband transitions. By using the coupled Schrödinger–Maxwell approach, we obtain the corresponding explicit analytical expressions for the input probe and FWM-generated signal fields. We calculated the dependencies of the efficiency of the FW...
